Game One: Seperation Animosity

Well game one is in the books as a 0-0 tie. The match was looking to be in doubt for the Aces as rookie goaltender Marco Del Gallo arrived with just minutes before game time and just barely dressed in time for the opening face off. A lack of chemistry was immediately evident with the team featuring 5 players who’ve never played in the YCBHL. Pushing through the rust the Aces managed chance after chance in the first period and had the bulk of the play in the attacking zone but in the words of Matt Gilligan “we just couldn’t snipe”.

The second period was more even as fatigue set in but the Aces managed to recover from some defensive zone breakdowns. There were some chances on both ends and a disallowed goal to A.O.T.T. but both goalies held the fort and the game ended scoreless. Evidence of the Aces scoring chance advantage was the opposing goalie getting 1st star. Even so, the Aces were all shaking their heads post game as they all had one or two chances that hit a man in front, bounced over their stick or missed the net entire. Chalk it up to cobwebs on the wrists.
